One of my dreams is to make with children a long and wide quilt with all the beauties and colors of the earth on it, aimed to cover all the ugliness and repair whatever has been destroyed by man.
The earth’s quilt is an original ecological protest activity which sprang up from the book The crazy Quilt of Rozy-Roz but developed to the idea of a story known as Dura Matsuka (The witch of the invisible evil).
The author leads children into a game of imagination. Through a fairy tale she activates them into play to express their protest for the destruction of the environment. Each child paints on a piece of fabric the beauties of the earth and all pieces are joined together. Since the begging of this protest in 1994, in the book fair in Athens, the earth’s quilt has been travelling in many places. It has been gotten wider and longer and waits the children from each corner of Greece to paint and add their pieces to it. In this activity children from five to twelve years old can participate with their schools, their municipalities or other agents.
